Kehua Wu

Meet the Face
Behind the Artworks

Kehua Wu, born in 1997 in Changsha, China, graduated from Hengyang Normal University in China in 2020, and is now an MFA Painting student at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Kehua's practice focuses on mixed-media paintings, while also exploring installation and video art. Traditional Chinese materials such as rice paper and ink remain essential to her work, as her mother tongue, symbolizing her artistic roots and cultural identity. Kehua is keen on collaging and blending diverse imagery—much as composing sentences and paragraphs with different linguistic elements—to express richer, more nuanced content. Most works originate from her personal mental state and life experiences. She said: "I regard my act of creating art as a path of cultivation. Through the process, I engage in deep introspection—exploring, unearthing, and ultimately embracing myself—while simultaneously seeking the truth of life and coming to terms with the world."
